The Tractor Story |

It was a dark and stormy night ... In April, every year, there is an Acreage Lifestyle Show at the Round-up Centre on the Stampede grounds. At the 2005 show, we were in the "planning" mode and were looking at everything for ideas, future needs, etc. At that show, Bill found the tractor. The dealer had a "show special" that was appealing, but was too early! At the 2006 show, since we were 5 months into construction, we were now seeking specific items or contacts. Now models change from time to time but at this year's show Bill went straight to the JD booth and made a deal on the show special for a model 2305. A little changed from 2005 but just what the doctor ordered. Time passes, construction takes longer than anticipated. Bill contracted the sales rep about delivering the tractor. Well, here comes the schpiel, new model out, upgrade, little more, same show deal, blah, blah, blah. You can't fault the guy for being a good salesman and looking out for himself and his boss! Bill went out to arrange for the 2305 but, hey wait, maybe this isn't so much of a schpiel as just a "hey look what's new and consider your options". The new model is a 2320. If you follow the conventional logic (boats, industrial equipment, mining equipment manufacturers all tend to use some form of it) then it should be just a "2300" series with a few more features. Nope, its a 2500 series with a little less hydraulic capacity. The result is a tractor that for a few scheckles is really the next model up. For those of you who like specifications, compare the two brochures and you'll see what I mean. Meanwhile, they will delivering the 2320 when we're ready for it. |
