Day 289

August 21, 2006

A lot has been done in the 3 and 1/2 weeks we've been away. Karen went out on Monday morning to see the progress and, of course, take coffee to the working stiffs.

The ceiling is complete in all rooms. The walls are nearing completion in the master wing, except for the ensuite which was waiting some confirmation on the location of lights and vanities. The master shower has been cement boarded.

The plumbing rough-in is mostly complete with some jiggery-pokery to do when cabinets and fixtures are installed. The main bathroom tub is installed.

The kitchen cabinets have been installed but need to be removed to accommodate the floor installation. While many would argue that they go in first, we have two reasons not - they are furniture pieces designed to sit on the floor and who wants to have to replace the floor if you remodel the kitchen.

The basement drywall is up, awaiting the stairs and some final drywall before the taping and mudding is done.

Outside, all trim is complete, caulking has been completed and sealant applied to everything. The screen porch ceiling is done and looks great. The garage doors are installed and the garage is nearing completion.
