Day 118 |

Friday, March 3rd - another week has gone by. Karen is presenting a workshop at the Greater Edmonton Teacher's convention so Bill takes coffee out in the afternoon. The boys have mentioned they like Karen's coffee better and she must have told them Bill was coming, because they are not there. Progress is being made but it is slow going. Bill got a better appreciation for some of the challenges the boys are facing. It's been snowing for the last week, as it was today. Bill scampered up the ladders and scaffold and such. No stranger to climbing construction projects (or trees) it was still unsettling to have less than perfect footing while 15 feet up. The great room roof purlins are taking shape. The first and second purlins are through the gable ends and the second purlins are resting on the king trusses. The gable over the front door is complete and they are test fitting the bevelled vertical posts that help form the bay windows. Pretty much all the electrical that can be done is done, with wiring pulled through all the log walls and there are coils in the basement awaiting the interior walls through which it will be fed. Bill also took a picture (#12) of an example of the kind of manufacturing defects that Mark and the crew have to correct. |
